Discovery posted an extended clip of Eli’s conversation about his brain scan from Curiosity. The clip also dives deeper into Eli’s “part time psychopath” diagnosis with Dr. Fallon. Take a look below:
I’ve added over 900 high definition screen captures of Eli’s appearance in the Discovery Channel show, Curiosity into the gallery. Eli hosted an episode titled, How Evil Are You? which re-created the Milgram Experiment. The Milgram Experiment measured the willingness of study participants to obey an authority figure who instructed them to perform acts that conflicted with their personal conscience. The results were incredibly shocking. If you have a chance to watch it, I highly recommend it.

Tonight, Eli’s episode of Curiosity airs on the Discovery Channel. Eli asks the question, “How Evil Are You?” focusing on the Milgram experiment from the 1960′s. Curiosity airs tonight at 9/8c on the Discovery Channel, so check your local listings!
WhatCulture.com has compiled their list of the “10 Future Icons of Horror.” Are we surprised to see Eli’s name among the ones listed? No, but we sure do appreciate the gesture. Although the clip itself is less than stellar, it is interesting to read “reviews” or “best of lists” from an admitted “I-don’t-like-horror-films” publisher. Take a look below:
Eli Roth
The splat packs very own Mr Eli Roth is a somewhat criticized man, his Hostel films have gained a lot of stick in the past, yet this egotistical director has got talent. His debut Cabin Fever never lived up to its hype yet was a decent enough horror flick, and although a year later he came onto the gorno scene with the Hostel movies that are the better of its subgenre. I think Mr Roth has great potential; he’s forever honing his skill, at the moment he’s a ball of clay, but possibly the long talked about Endangered Species may place him back on the horror map. From analyzing his cinematography and tension building (we studied one particular scene from Hostel: Part II which involved a scythe over and over in Film Studies) you get a sense that behind all the manipulation and bravado, this guy knows what he’s doing. Hell if Tarantino backs him, then he must be doing something right.
On the night before Halloween, there will be no ghosts or goblins skulking about in How Evil Are You? (Discovery Channel, 9 p.m.), but that doesn’t make it any less disturbing. Hosted and produced by Hostel writer-director Eli Roth, the one-hour special — which is part of the Curiosity series — examines the nature of evil as the horror movie maven submits to a brain scan that measures his physiological responses to upsetting images (and compares them with those from potentially psychotic minds).
As his pièce de résistance, though, he re-stages Yale Professor Stanley Milgram’s controversial 1961 experiment. (In the Milgram experiment, subjects were ordered to give a set of increasingly powerful electric shocks to people as punishment for answering questions incorrectly. The shocks weren’t real; Milgram was simply seeking to explore subjects’ limits on obeying authority, and the results weren’t always pretty.) In this clip, you’ll see a tease of what happens when Roth decides to put a new set of subjects in the hot (electric) seat to find out if we’re “better or worse than we were 50 years ago.”
